Dear reader,
On this website you can view a children’s story written about a son losing his father, and the way that the son and mother deal with the tragedy.
Parts of the story may be difficult for young readers to cope with, so I recommend that it be read with a parent or guardian.
I was inspired to write this story by two major events in the world in late 2004 and early ‘05. One was the American death toll in Iraq reaching the one thousand mark, and the other was the devastating Tsunami that killed so many two Christmases ago. I thought about all of the children who lost one or both of their parents in these events, and it left a deep impression on my heart. Being a parent myself, I cannot imagine my daughter growing up without me beside her, guiding her through her journey. But this is a reality for so many children who have lost parents or other family members due to war, natural disaster, or illness, prematurely.
My hope in writing this story is that it will bring some ease to those suffering through the loss of a loved one- be it father, mother, sister, brother, or anyone close to ones’ heart.
Thank you for visiting, and please pass on this page’s address to anyone you think it might help.
Sincerely,
Thomas Sheridan.
